Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Dwarka Expressway on March 11. Once operational, the expressway will boost the connectivity between Gurugram and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Dwarka Expressway on March 11, followed by a roadshow commencing from Delhi and concluding in Gurugram, according to Union Minister of Planning Rao Inderjit Singh. He said that this is going to be the Prime Minister’s second visit to Gurugram within one month. Earlier, while addressing a rally in Majra (Rewari) on February 16, the PM announced several major projects in the state, including an AlIMS.
Relief for Gurgaon-Delhi commuters
The opening of the Dwarka Expressway, scheduled for inauguration on March 11 by PM Modi, will boost the connectivity between Gurugram and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The e-way features different categories of road transport like tunnels, underpasses, flyovers and a flyover over the flyover to ensure no traffic snarls on the route.
Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, also a Member of Parliament from Gurgaon, said, “The length of this road is 18.9 kilometers in the Haryana area and 10.1 kilometers in Delhi area in which there is also a 34-metre wide elevated road of eight lanes on a single pillar in the length of 9 kilometers, which is the first elevated road of its kind in the country.”
He added that this elevated 8-lane access control expressway is constructed at approximately Rs 9,000 crore. Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials claimed that around 99 percent of the work in the Gurugram portion of the expressway has already been completed, while around 90 percent of the work in the Delhi segment is complete.
